I'm looking for a cheap hotel, close to LAX to stay in for one night. What's your recommendation?The westin is charging me $250 or so, which is pretty darn steep…better deals out there? hotel searching website you recommend? any promotion codes, etc..?

or hotels.com there is another site hot something?

the hotels there are very reasonable. but prob. too far from where you're staying.

For hotels try the Pickwick on 5th at Mission or the Best Western Soma Hotel Collection on 7th at Mission.
There are several large conventions that week so the hotel rates are going to be higher as the city is facing a convention hotel room sell out situation.
Southwest airline tends to be cheaper than most others. They fly into Oakland Airport and you can take Bart to the City for about $5.50 per person.
As with any travel plans the further ahead you make reservations the lower the cost.
